As part of Book Week, the students at Gymea North PS had a visit from a very famous author named Michael Salmon. Michael has been writing classic Australia picture books for over 40 years. In fact, a number of his books are studied by students in our infants classes every year. Michael entertained all of our students with stories of his early days drawing caricatures for his friends on Bondi Beach to working in a saw mill next to Lake Burley Griffin and dreaming up Alexander the Bunyip. He also gifted two students, Dylan and Emerson, with "the most embarrassing afternoon of their lives" by drawing their 'portrait.' But Jack took revenge by drawing his very own portrait of Michael Salmon!
