Today at Gymea North PS we commemorated ANZAC Day which is held on the 25th of April. We were honoured to have Mr Noel Tennent and Mr Norm Hay from the Miranda RSL join us for our ceremony. We were also privileged to have one of our parents, Corporal Mark Donaldson VC, address the assembly and lay the ANZAC wreath along with his children and our school captains.
Anzac Day is the day we remember Australians who have gone to war to fight so that we can live in a free and peaceful country. It is a day when we give thanks because Australia is such a good and happy place to live. As young Australians, it is now our duty to make sure that Australia continues to be a free and peaceful country; a place where we feel safe and happy.
Ode to the Fallen
They went with songs to the battle
They were young, straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall not grow old
As we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
LEST WE FORGET
